May 10, 2007 - Japanese sales data for the month of April has trickled out courtesy of Famitsu. According to this latest sales data, the DS Lite has officially crossed the 10 million units sold milestone, making it one of the fastest selling game systems of all time.

The DS Lite managed to reach this spectacular level of proliferation after only 61 weeks on store shelves. The PlayStation 2 took 131 weeks to accomplish the same feat. At this rate, Nintendo's dual-screened handheld juggernaut is on track to smash sales records completely. According to Famitsu, the penetration of the DS Lite "should be rated as incredibly fast."
